About the Opportunity
The CB Redevelopment Project is an initiative to realign care and services in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. The Project includes multiple complex sub-projects including renovations and new construction over four separate sites: Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Glace Bay General Hospital, Harborview Hospital, a new Community Health Centre and Long-Term Care facility in both New Waterford and the Northside area. There will also be a new laundry facility constructed on the Northside. Research and academic mandates all need to be addressed in the planning, design, and construction phases
As an individual contributor on the Cape Breton Redevelopment Project, the Project Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and project management of assigned projects within the CBRM Redevelopment project, participating, and supporting functional design planning, specification writing and review, drawing review, cost estimation, and tender document coordination. This includes engaging design consultants and contractors and interfacing with stakeholders and clinicians to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to project milestone dates and, most importantly, meeting the objectives of the project.
Specific Accountabilities
The CBRM Redevelopment Project Manager has the following major accountabilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive readiness plans for new facilities
- Following all processes, policies and approaches for clinical and support leadership engagement and consultation throughout the planning, design, construction, commissioning, and activation stages of assigned capital projects.
- Assess and identify operational requirements, including staffing, equipment, supplies, systems, and processes.
- Understand status of procurement, installation, and testing of equipment and systems required for the facility, such as IT infrastructure, security systems, and office equipment.
- Work closely with the NSH Facility Activation Project Management Office
- Facilitate and participate in Clinical Acceptance Planning and Execution.
- Follow Project Management Best Practices to Plan and Execute project activities, including facility outfitting, clinical acceptance and facility activation.
- Identify potential risks and challenges related to facility activation and develop mitigation strategies.
- Engaging NSH clinical and non-clinical teams in projects that affect them.
- Preparing and reviewing tenders, RFQ’s and RFP’s with NSHA and Internal Service Department staff.
- Provide regular information to be used in implementation and monitoring of project KPIs
- Monitoring consultants and contractor engagement to ensure projects adhere to NSHA quality standards, budgets, and deadlines.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Registered Engineer (in N.S.) in a relevant Engineering discipline having 3-5 years project management experience or
- Project Manager with 5+ years of experience leading work in complex Project Environments. (Built Environment or Healthcare)
The following would be considered an asset:
- Professional Engineer
- Project Management Professional certification.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Full-Time Long Assignment / 75 Hours Bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits
$42.94 - $53.67 Hourly
