About the Opportunity

The IMIT Operations Manager, Registration and Switchboard Services, reports to the IMIT Provincial Manager Registration, and Switchboard Services and is responsible for the transformation of health information to achieve provincial standardization across NS Health.  The Operations Manager is responsible to provide strategic and program-level leadership of Information Management including registration, patient booking and scheduling, patient locating, hospital switchboard, and integration of technological solutions. The Operations Manager has responsibility for implementation of information management practices required to develop, evaluate, and monitor programs and services while contributing to the overall IMIT strategy implementation to achieve the goals and objectives of Nova Scotia Health.  The Operations Manager provides technical oversight and subject matter expertise and day-to-day leadership and support of the clinical implementation and maintenance activities related to specific application areas used within the portfolio. The individual will lead the technical implementation of the build/configuration and changes/ enhancements for assigned clinical applications in collaborative partnership with other IMIT Leads and Managers.

 

The IMIT Operations Manager, Registration and Switchboard Services is responsible for:

  • Implementing operational plans to meet goals and objectives and financial targets of the portfolio.
  • Maintaining provincial oversight while leading teams for information management and systems transformation
  • Assisting clinical programs with information management requests for the purposes of information collection, audits and quality review for health outcomes across NS Health.
  • Ensuring information management best practice in accordance with provincial/federal legislation in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act and Personal Health Information Management Act.
  • Leading staff located across the province. Travelling as required to multiple locations to support and strengthen the team.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Current registration with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CHIMA) is required
  • Undergraduate degree required. Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience with information management of an organization of significant size and/or complexity
  • Knowledge and skills in the areas of IMIT tools, applications, and systems supporting registration and switchboard services
  • Certified Health Executive and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or organizational change management certification an asset
  • Experience implementing information management strategies, policies and processes for a large, complex organization
  • Experience in leading teams of staff with indirect accountabilities to other operational units
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Knowledge of health care legislation including privacy legislation - Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (FOIPOP, PIPEDA), Hospitals Act, Mental Health Act, Medical Staff By-Laws, Medical staff Rules and Regulations
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time Position, 75 Hours Bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$40.15 - $50.19 Hourly
