About the Opportunity
With considerable latitude for initiative and independent action, the MRI Technologist has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of all designated MRI suites including instruction of students and direction of staff while in the area i.e. hospital personnel, maintenance, and cleaning staff. Ensuring information of the patient requisitions meet departmental standards and correlating clinical history with examinations to be performed, the MRI Technologist assumes responsibility for complex procedures designated via indirect supervision of the radiologist. To fulfill this function, the technologist will perform imaging procedures and patient care duties. The MRI Technologist must consistently apply all safety rules and techniques applicable to the magnetic and radio frequency fields in use in the MRI environment ensuring technologists, patients, co-workers, and the public are adequately protected at all times.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology
- Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) MRI exam and certification
- Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) licensure
- Previous MRI experience preferred
- Demonstrate competency in I.V. insertion
- Frequent independent decisions assessing diagnostic results recognizing the significance of all structures visualized, differentiating artifactual from normal or pathological, and improvising standard techniques in routine and non-routine circumstances
- Ensures competency, and maintains an ongoing interest in updating knowledge on new equipment and procedures
- Practices excellent patient care; demonstrating courtesy, kindness, and understanding using effective communication skills
- Operates computer system in regard to patient information
- Highly adaptable professional who can think critically and thrive as a member of a dynamic team
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
- Call and shift work required, evenings, nights, and weekends
Compensation and Benefits
$36.15 - $42.19 hourly
