Musquodoboit Harbour Family Practice and the team at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital are seeking a Locum Family Physician to join their welcoming, supportive, and collaborative team, consisting of six physicians and two Nurse Practitioners, along with a broader site-based team which includes Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Dietitians. The Family Physician will provide a combination of office-based primary care (at the Musquodoboit Harbour Family Practice location), coverage for the long-term care facility (the Birches), ED shifts and inpatient bed coverage at the Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital. A physician in this area needs to support a combination of the services needed in the community.
Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital is located in Musquodoboit Harbour and is a short 40-minute drive from Halifax (30 minutes from Dartmouth).
Job Description
Job Description: We are seeking a Physician to locum during a period of active recruitment. The physician will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population with a broad spectrum of acute and emergent conditions.
Compensation is provided by the service, and locum physicians are eligible to access the travel elements of the program, including reimbursement for kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.
Qualifications
- College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification would be considered an asset
- all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support(ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
No formal ED certification needed, but a FM physician should have experience to work in a community ED
