The Nova Scotia Sisterhood is a province-wide, free program for Black women to access healthcare in the community and to improve overall health and wellbeing.
The Nova Scotia Sisterhood team:
- provides medical care,
- assists in managing ongoing health conditions,
- has a therapist on staff to provide clinical therapy,
- offers navigation to health and community resources,
- delivers health promotion and wellness education, and
- develops partnerships with community groups.
Areas of focus:
- heart disease
- high blood pressure
- diabetes
- screening for health conditions
- mental health and addictions
- nutrition and physical activity
- obtaining health information specific to Black Women
Job Description
The Nova Scotia Sisterhood program is seeking a family physician to provide coverage for one year due to a leave of absence. The leave will be from March 2025 to March 2026.
Qualifications
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
