About This Opportunity
Aberdeen Regional Hospital is seeking a generalist obstetrician/gynecologist to join their team. The four person group provides full spectrum OB/GYN practice including routine and high risk prenatal and intrapartum care, office and perioperative gynecology including open and minimally invasive surgery, and colposcopy. Physicians also have an opportunity to be a preceptor for medical students and residents. Compensation is via a contractual Alternate payment plan. In addition, on-call stipends and other incentives are available through the Physician Agreement between the Province of Nova Scotia and Doctors Nova Scotia.
The obstetric service delivers approximately 300 babies per year. On-call is 1:4. Maternal-Fetal Medicine and NICU services are available at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, one hour away.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity join an established office in the Aberdeen Regional hospital.
Job Description
Responsibilities
- full scope of practice as an obstetrician/gynecologist providing care to the patients within Northern Zone
- participating in call and able to respond to urgent matters within 20 minutes of being called
- provide support to your own site but also to others in the Northern Zone if required, which will include day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
- responsible to the Zone Department Head for Obstetrics & Gynecologist for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority

Qualifications
- candidate must be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- membership with Canadian Medical Protective Association(CMPA)
