CBRH opened its door to patients in 1995. Now, it is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia that serves more than 200,000 patients a year. It is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals. Located in the historic town of Sydney, CBRH has 162 acute care beds, 36 emergency beds, 23 intermediate and critical care beds, 40 maternal child beds, 52 mental health and addiction beds, and nine palliative care beds. The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs.

Job Description

Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH), in Sydney, Nova Scotia, is seeking locum Hospitalist Physicians to join their team during active recruitment.

Opportunities are available for the following weeks in 2025:

  5. March 3
  6. March 10
  7. March 31

The remuneration model includes a daily rate under the provincial hospitalist agreement, supplemented by a stipend and fee-for-service billings for on-call work.

CBRH features 7 hospitalist lines, with patients distributed across various units in the hospital, excluding the ICU. Each locum hospitalist is responsible for a maximum of 15 patients, and call requirements are limited to one night per week worked.

Relocation support programs are in place to assist you and your family, including help with finding housing, securing daycare for young children, and addressing other challenges associated with transitioning to a new community.

Expected Hours

Daytime coverage is 8am to 5pm and on-call coverage is 5pm to 8am, split between physicians covering the service for the week.
