About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Rehabilitation, Ambulatory Care and Supportive Care Services, the Health Services Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to multidisciplinary teams within a patient-centered, collaborative practice model of care. This position supports services at Aberdeen Regional Hospital and Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, including Rehabilitation Services, Social Work, Ambulatory Care (including the Medical Day Unit & Orthopedic Clinic), and the Orthopedic Assessment Centre (OAC).

 

Working collaboratively with patients, families, staff, physicians, community partners, and service providers, the HSM applies strategic and analytical thinking to address operational challenges and advance the delivery of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective services that enhance patient experience and outcomes. The Health Services Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of integrated, multidisciplinary services across multiple sites in Pictou County, ensuring coordinated access, standardized processes, and consistent service delivery.

 

This role requires strong leadership, sound decision-making, creativity, clinical and interpersonal effectiveness, and a commitment to continuous professional growth. The position encompasses a broad range of operational, leadership, human resource, and financial responsibilities and requires a high degree of initiative and the ability to effectively lead teams through change.

 

The HSM demonstrates sound professional judgment and leadership while working within the framework and objectives of the Health Services Program, and the mission, vision, values, and strategic directions of Nova Scotia Health. The successful candidate incorporates Nova Scotia Health's core competencies and values into daily practice.

 

Please note: This position supports operations at multiple sites and community locations within Pictou County. Travel will be required.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health discipline.
  • Registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body (or eligible)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience
  • Experience leading rehabilitation, ambulatory care, community-based, or interdisciplinary healthcare services
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent leadership and/or management experience with responsibilities related to program planning and evaluation, human resource management, and financial management within a unionized environment
  • Experience implementing multi-site and provincial clinical programs
  • Experience developing and facilitating strategies consistent with the principles of Organizational Health
  • Knowledge of and experience applying change management principles and methodologies (PROSCI certification or training preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, process redesign, and workflow optimization
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to effectively adapt to evolving priorities and challenges
  • Demonstrated proficiency in program planning, financial and human resource management, communication, and interpersonal effectiveness
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, self-development, and continuous quality improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to lead within the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email, internet applications, and health information systems used to support operational and clinical decision-making

Hours

  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Travel to other sites required. Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Scale Type: Management
Band: MGT06
Hourly Rate: $53.59 - $65.65
Annual Salary: $104,498 - $128,010
