About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, Primary Health Care, the physiotherapist will utilize behavior change methods, case management and client centered approaches in individual or group settings. The incumbent is team focused and will collaborate with Primary Health Care staff, family physicians, other health care providers and community groups. The Physiotherapist provides guidance and support for clients, including providing information about appropriate supports and programs that will meet health and wellness needs and social supports that can assist with daily living. The individual is responsible for exercise program development, implementation and evaluation and must possess excellent leadership skills. The incumbent is a member of a highly collaborative inter-disciplinary team and collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, solves problems, and shares responsibilities.  Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. 

About You

We would loke to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists
  • Must be eligible for membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Experience providing group exercise prescriptions or other community programming recommended
  • Experience working as a member of a collaborative interdisciplinary team
  • ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise Specialist of Certification or CSEP an asset
  • Preferred experience in partnership development, stakeholder
  • Understanding of population health, health promotion strategies, and behavior change principles
  • Well developed interpersonal, teamwork, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability and willingness to change
  • Demonstrates innovation in program planning, implementation and evaluation, and quality improvement, planning skills
  • Computer skills (MS Office, e-mail and internet)
  • Annual CPR-AED certification and annual WHIMIS training and certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

Hours

  • Permanent part-time position; 14 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts include days, nights and weekends (or other specific hours of shifts)

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43- $49.74 Hourly
