About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the Manager of Disability Management, Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness (OHS&W), the Administrative Assistant provides confidential administrative support to the OHS&W teams.
The Administrative Assistant ensures that the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that they do and through the messages they deliver.
The main objective is to provide support to the Nova Scotia Health's Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness Team, in order to assist employees and managers to minimize the effects of illness and injury on staff, the workplace and patients, and to promote a healthy lifestyle with the focus of enhancing existing levels of health, productivity and well-being.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Post-Secondary diploma in a recognized office administration, business administration or secretarial program
- Undergraduate degree is an asset.
- A minimum of two years’ of relevant experience, providing administrative support and office coordination with multiple customers and/or partner organizations
- International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) certification is an asset.
- Excellent computer skills; familiar with enterprise software systems; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Well-developed abilities and skills in modern office practices.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and team skills with emphasis on decision making, problem solving, motivational and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively determine day-to-day priorities and utilize foresight to ensure appropriate activities for self and recommendations for team members
- Excellent communications skills
- Proficiency in drafting various documents (detailed procedures. letters, reports, meeting minutes, etc.)
- Well developed ability with respect to problem solving
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

- Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits
$21.51 - $26.88 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
