About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Nutrition and Food Services and under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisors, the Cook II independently, and within a team, prepares meals using standardized quantity recipes for patient food services, as well as for clientele of the cafeteria/catering/retail food services. The Cook II works collaboratively and is responsible for maintaining a high standard of food safety and sanitation in an institutional food service operation.
The Cook II will work cooperatively and effectively with all members of Nutrition & Food Services and all key stakeholders, maintaining excellent communication. They have the ability to perform a number of job duties with flexibility, an openness to change, and a focus on patient/client service and safety.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Grade 12 or equivalent required (Employees hired prior to September 2004 exempt)
- Journeyman’s Papers or applicants with Section A or Block 1 cooking course and a commitment to work towards completion of at least Block II in the Culinary Arts program.
- Serv Safe Advanced course required
- One (1) year hospital food experience required
- Good attendance and work record
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other in a team environment
- Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills and ability to work under pressures of time limitations
- Physical capability to perform duties of position including heavy lifting, withstanding demands of walking and standing during shift, working in an environment with heat and temperature fluctuations, as well as the ability to work weekend and rotating shifts as assigned
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits
$21.72 - $24.68 Hourly
