About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Development, Primary Health Care and Chronic Disease Management Network, the Operations Consultant is responsible for working with across the primary health care system and with key external stakeholders to advance the strategic and operational priorities of the portfolio, with a focus on Wellness and Prevention. The Operations Consultant has a responsibility for the overall coordination of the planning, development and implementation activities related to chronic disease prevention and wellness including physical activity, nutrition, screening, harm reduction in Primary Health Care. The Operations Consultant may also contribute to other chronic disease and wellness activities as relevant and requested.
The Operations Consultant will work according to the mission, vision, values and policies of Nova Scotia Health and Primary Health Care/Department of Family Practice to support the development and implementation of Primary Health Care programs, services and initiatives throughout the province. The Operations Consultant activities are guided by Primary Health Care priority areas, multiple stakeholders and by community needs and, therefore, require a professional approach. This work requires recognition and application of best practice and application of evidenced informed decision making.
Using an in-depth understanding of the primary health care system and chronic disease management, the Operations Consultant will be responsible for:
- Implementing practice support programs for primary health care providers
- Developing opportunities for local community partnerships
This is a hybrid position.
About You
- Baccalaureate degree from a health discipline/health science field required
- Advanced knowledge of wellness and prevention, demonstrated through a combination of education and experience required. Health promotion background preferred.
- Masters’ degree in Business Administration, Health Services Administration preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in program and service development, implementation and evaluation required
- Minimum of 3-5 years' working experience and responsibilities in a senior coordinator position or equivalent
- Proven ability to work independently and with team members in a virtual environment
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Experience in planning, coordinating, delivery and evaluation of Primary Health Care and community-based initiatives.
- Knowledge of disease prevention, health promotion, chronic disease management, and population health preferred
- Experience within a health-related environment preferred
- Experience in a primary health care / community-based setting preferred
- Proven ability to work with a variety of stakeholder groups
- Must have valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle; travel required
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

- Permanent Full time / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
- Shifts may include evening, weekends and holidays
Compensation and Benefits
$37.60 - $47.01 hourly
