About the Opportunity

Accountable to the Continuing Care Behavioral Health Manager, the Challenging Behaviour Resource Coordinator (CBRC) is responsible for facilitating and supporting the implementation of the Behavioural Health Program with the continuing care sector.  The CBRC also plays a key role in enhancing the capacity of continuing care providers to provide care to older persons with complex cognitive (dementia) / mental health needs and associated responsive behaviours.  Through the provision of leadership and collaboration, the CBRC will provide guidance and advice to promote the coordination and integration of services. Duties will be performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, Standards, Policies and Procedures of Nova Scotia Health.  Nova Scotia Health is committed to patient safety, continued quality improvement, and advancing the delivery of safe and trusted health services.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Completion of a university degree in a regulated healthcare profession with a minimum of 5 years' experience within the profession
  • A member in good standing with college or appropriate regulatory governing body in Nova Scotia
  • Minimum two (2) years clinical experience working with clients with responsive behavior in the Continuing Care sector, geriatrics, mental health and/or ABI populations
  • Experience working in a multifaceted and dynamic environment requiring the CBRC to work autonomously and creatively as well as collaboratively with other professionals and para-professionals
  • Knowledge of community agencies, service resources and outreach teams considered an asset
  • Experience in developing and delivering education programs and facilitating knowledge transfer with both individuals and teams using adult learning principles an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Experience and knowledge in best practices related to the management and assessment of mental illness and dementias, including the use of effective practice modalities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, demonstrating flexibility, and versatility while managing numerous tasks simultaneously
  • Travel to other sites throughout the Central Zone is required. Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-Time; 75 Hours Biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$36.45 - $44.31 hourly
