About the Opportunity

Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, Maintenance and Operations, the Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technician performs a variety of skills related to the trade which are required for the maintenance, repair, upgrading and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment for Nova Scotia Health sites.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Completion of an approved air conditioning/refrigeration apprenticeship program
  • Nova Scotia Journeyperson Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Certificate
  • Four years’ experience as a journeyperson
  • Working knowledge of applicable safety codes
  • Demonstrated communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Eager to learn new skills and participate in on-the-job training
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in emergency situations
  • Valid training in the following would be considered an asset -  WHMIS, confined space awareness, fall protection, Arc flash, first aid, lock-out tag-out and infection control
  • Must be able to carry out physically-demanding tasks, work in all weather conditions, work from heights and in enclosed spaces as necessary, and be able to carry out duties safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers and other staff
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nova Scotia driver's license and have access to reliable transportation as required
  • Experience working with commercial equipment (chillers/cooling towers)

Hours

  • Permanent Full-Time; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$27.43 - $32.65 Hourly
