Nova Scotia Mood and Anxiety Insured Services Program (ISP)
The Office of Addictions and Mental Health (OAMH) is seeking Registered Masters or Doctoral level Psychologists, Registered Masters level Social Workers (with registration status as a clinical specialist) and Registered Masters level Counselling Therapists to provide clinical care for the Province’s first insured services program for mood and anxiety.
This is a part-time, flexible position, and OAMH is currently seeking private practice clinicians with the below identified qualifications, and who can provide a minimum of 10 clinical sessions per week. The exact workload will be determined based on client demand and the successful candidate’s availability. The position allows for both in-person and remote work, and flexible hours. The contracted Clinicians will be accountable to the Clinical Coordinator. Clinicians currently employed in the public system (i.e., Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health) are not eligible to apply for this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provision of Clinical Services: Provide evidence-based, culturally responsive clinical intervention services for clients (child, youth, and adult) experiencing mood and anxiety disorders.
• Measurement-Based Care (MBC): Utilize MBC to guide clinical care delivery and inform the development of program quality metrics. Clinicians will be expected to use Greenspace to support MBC use with all clients.
*Previous experience with the Greenspace platform is not a requirement of this recruitment opportunity. OAMH will provide the appropriate/required training for the Applicants. However, enthusiasm for, and experience with, outcome measurement in clinical settings will be considered an asset.
• Community of Practice: Engage in the Community of Practice facilitated by the Mood and Anxiety ISP Clinical Coordinator. This monthly 120-minute meeting will serve to provide training, opportunities for practice-based discussions with other clinicians, and share program statistics, successes, and learnings. Applicants will be compensated for this time.
• Peer Consultation and Accountability: Utilize MBC data to engage in peer consultation and receive guidance from the Clinical Coordinator. The clinicians will be accountable to the Clinical Coordinator for implementing any practice recommendations provided.
Evaluation:
• Contribute to the program’s monitoring and evaluation framework to ensure quality of care and identify areas for improvement:
- Provide input into policy development related to the Mood and Anxiety ISP.
Administrative Responsibilities (approx. 4-6 hours per week):
• Governance: Provide program-specific information to the Clinical Coordinator to communicate successes, challenges, opportunities, and information on escalated client care situations.
• Scheduling: Provide available appointment dates and times to the MHA Provincial Intake team on a regular basis, ensure that time to complete treatment is made available, schedule all other/remaining appointments with the client, and communicate with the client about their appointment times.
*Please note that the initial client appointment will be booked by the MHA Provincial Intake teams once eligibility and interest has been confirmed.
• Planning: Prepare for client sessions in advance by reviewing the appropriate intake information, past session notes, MBC outcomes, and other preparatory duties as required.
• Records Management: Ensure compliance with privacy laws and maintain distinct client records for the program.
• Billing: Submit invoices for reimbursement via the billing platform and established service codes on a pre-determined schedule.
Qualifications:
Private clinicians with the below identified qualifications are eligible to apply for this opportunity:
• Registered Psychologist in good standing for 5 years with a regulatory body in a Canadian jurisdiction. If not already registered in Nova Scotia, the successful candidate must be eligible for registration and complete the registration process with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP) prior to or shortly after starting the position.
• Registered Social Worker (with registration status as a clinical specialist) in good standing for 5 years with a regulatory body in a Canadian jurisdiction. If not already registered in Nova Scotia, the successful candidate must be eligible for registration and complete the registration process with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers prior to or shortly after starting the position."
• Registered Counselling Therapist in good standing for 5 years with a regulatory body in a Canadian jurisdiction. If not already registered in Nova Scotia, the successful candidate must be eligible for registration and complete the registration process with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists prior to or shortly after starting the position.
Knowledge of:
• Demonstrated experience providing clinical care to children, youth, and/or adults.
• Strong judgment, professional discretion, and familiarity with regulatory frameworks.
• Experience in delivering culturally safe, evidence-informed treatment modalities including individual, couple, and family treatment related to anxiety and mood symptoms.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing culturally specific services and a commitment to continuous development of cultural competence.
• Competence in other languages is an asset (French preferred).
• Experience working with language translation and interpretation services is an asset.
• Commitment to ethical principles, client confidentiality, quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and ongoing professional development.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range:
• Psychologists: $210/hour, including billable administrative time
• Social Workers: $175/hour, including billable administrative time
• Counselling Therapists: $160/hour, including billable administrative time
Benefits: This role is not eligible for health benefits, RRSP matching, paid vacation, or sick leave.
This is a contract position with flexible scheduling. It is ideal for private practice clinicians seeking meaningful part-/full-time work in a transformative space.
