Job Description

Mental Health & Addictions services in Amherst is seeking a part-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. This group provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction care to the catchment area of people living in Cumberland County through a wide range of mental health and addiction services. Join Nova Scotia's thriving healthcare ecosystem, where your expertise is valued and your contributions drive innovative, compassionate care for generations to come.

In addition, this position has the possibility to participate in the Transitioning into Practice - Transitioning Out of Practice (TIP-TOP) Program. The TIP-TOP program helps physicians transition in and out of practice by allowing an overlap of up to two-years between retiring doctors and those starting, ensuring continuity of care for patients, and a smooth transition process for both physicians.  

Responsibilities

  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care. 
  • Provide direct clinical outpatient care
  • Provide emergency medicine services in conjunction with our crisis team
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority. 
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities. 

Expected Hours

  • Permanent Part-Time (0.5 FTE)
  • Ability to combine with additional part-time work in the Zone
  • Call is required, shared amongst the group
