Haliburton Place, located within Hants Community Hospital, provides high-quality long-term care services to 31 residents in a comfortable, supportive environment. We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and experienced Medical Director to lead our medical care team and guide clinical operations for Haliburton Place.

Job Description

Position Overview:

The Medical Director provides clinical leadership, oversight, and expertise to ensure the delivery of exemplary care to residents. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of health professionals, the Medical Director ensures that care aligns with evidence-based practices, regulatory requirements, and Nova Scotia Health’s mission to promote health and wellness.

Compensation: Stipend, approximately $5,000 per year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Leadership: Provide guidance to the interdisciplinary care team, fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence.
  • Resident Care: Oversee the delivery of medical services, including the assessment, diagnosis, and management of resident health concerns.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with provincial LTC standards and best practices.
  • Policy Development: Collaborate with administrative teams to implement and update medical policies and procedures for the facility.
  • Education and Support: Mentor staff in clinical best practices, providing education on geriatric care, chronic disease management, and palliative care as needed.
  • Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between Haliburton Place, Hants Community Hospital, and external healthcare providers.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice medicine in Nova Scotia and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Experience in geriatrics, family medicine, or long-term care.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a commitment to person-centered care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
  • Familiarity with provincial LTC regulations and guidelines.
