Company Description

Woodlawn Medical Centre in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is seeking locum coverage to cover a three month leave for a family physician. This opportunity is from January 2 to March 31, 2025. There is the opportunity for one physician to cover the entirety, or one/many physicians to cover days/weeks ad hoc. The week of March 9 - 16 is already covered. 

There is an opportunity to extend this role to a full time practice. 
 
This modern clinic is located a short drive from downtown Dartmouth and comfortable commute from Halifax. The clinic is a large collaborative practice with family physicians, nurse practitioners, family practice nurses and specialists on site; they are seeking family physicians to join their team in a full time and a part time role.  The clinic is well maintained, professionally managed and fully supported by friendly administrative staff.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’
Act as a patient’s advocate
Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Expected Hours

This is a locum position. Details to be discussed with clinic. 

Qualifications

All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
