Company Description

Located in vibrant and popular community of Clayton Park, Halifax, the Geriatrics in Motion team are seeking to add a full time physician to their team. There are currently three physicians, plus a family practice nurse. The clinic is located on the Clayton Park campus of Parkland Retirement Living. All physicians currently work in long-term care as well as rostering patients.

The vacancy at this clinic is to take over a roster of approximately 1,000 patients. The primary care portion of the role is 0.6, with the remainder servicing retirement living and long-term care residents. Other areas of interest outside of the 0.6 FTE primary care may also be pursued.  There is a teaching opportunity available as part of this role, and new physicians would be able to do procedures such as lumps and bumps on site.

This clinic runs on a cost sharing model between physicians. Monthly overhead fluctuates based on lease, costs, etc. The front office staff includes one office manager and two medical administrative assistants.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient’s advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
  • Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
