Medicine in Motion Clinic in Dartmouth has an opportunity available in their Family Practice for a full-time Family Physician. Medicine in Motion offers a variety of sports medicine services at the location in addition to Family Practice. Sports Medicine Physician + Orthopedic Surgeon in the same clinical area. Also a physiotherapy clinic (CBI Health) and retail area (Soles in Motion) that offer athletic/comfort footwear, orthotics (certified pedorthists), medical compression stockings and custom + off-the-shelf orthopedic bracing. There is informal collaboration among physicians, who provide cross coverage during time away, etc. Small procedures can be done in office. Sterile instruments and medical supplies are available. Joint injections routinely done in the Sports Medicine practice. Excellent front office staff and billing support. Under the new longitudinal family medicine (LFM) funding platform there would be a graduated overhead based on projected earnings. This percentage decreases based on amount of earnings, with the scale ranging from 20% (for higher/full time income earners) to 27% for lower/part time income earners. Specific details on how salaries equate to overhead percentage will be provided to prospective candidates. The vacancy offers the opportunity to build your patient roster. Job Description

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures;

  • Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient’s advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
  • Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
