About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Administrative Director of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) in Central Zone  and in co leadership with the Division Heads for Clinical Chemistry and Hematopathology and the Medical Director Molecular Diagnostics, the CZ Technical Manager Esoteric Laboratories is responsible for the efficient, and effective operation of the following Services: Toxicology, Molecular Diagnostics, Environmental, HLA, Special Immunology, Flow Cytometry, Advanced Coagulation, and Microscopy. The Manager is responsible for the provision of timely, high quality and safe technical services in a highly complex laboratory setting . The Manager will collaborate on the allocation of human and fiscal resources, strategic planning and development to ensure continuous quality improvement and to support the clinical, research and academic mandates of DPLM. The Manager collaborates and works consultatively with all CZ DPLM divisions to ensure services offered comply with laboratory standards and accreditation requirements of multiple accrediting bodies.. The Manager participates on provincial committee/meetings and works with laboratory management across the province as required.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of an approved MLT program, supplemented by additional formal management and/or leadership training. or completion within 5 years of hire required
  • Current licensure with NSRMLS (NSCMLT); Certified with CSMLS required
  • 3 years of relevant supervisory/management experience demonstrating progressive accountabilities for financial, strategic and people management to deliver high quality clinical laboratory services
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and decision skills in support of patient, family and client-centered laboratory services
  • Expert knowledge of evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning
  • Experience in strategic planning, systems thinking and in collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, analytical problem solving and objective decision-making
  • Understanding of the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to lead work teams. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Experience in leading change and knowledge and experience related to quality improvement methodologies. (e.g., LEAN)
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills that are responsive to audience needs
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including laboratory information systems and document control systems
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting laboratory statistical data and monitoring quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Expertise in financial planning and personnel management in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Demonstrates and follows LEADS leadership capabilities

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Scale Type: Management
Band: MGT06
Hourly Rate: $53.59 - $65.65

Annual Salary: $104,498 - $128,010
