About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapist reports to the Rehabilitation Services Manager and assesses, diagnoses and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function.

The Physiotherapist is educated and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers in regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. This position provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides.

As a member of a clinical team, the Physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy, or Masters of Science in Physiotherapy 
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy (Provincial licensing body)
  • BLS-C
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other health care providers and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings, traveling within geographical area as necessary.
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly 
  • Approximately 12 months

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.99 Hourly
