About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), and under the supervision of the Team Lead, the non -licensed Research Coordinator co-ordinates research projects within a team setting in the Division of Neurosurgery. The research coordinator will work on the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) project in the spine research program at the Halifax Infirmary. The research coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day data collection for the project, including interviews, chart reviews as well as retrospective data abstraction. The coordinator will also work with patient partners and healthcare stakeholders related to the enhanced recovery program, facilitating meetings related to program improvement. This coordination also includes the administration of the study/clinical trial, care for the subjects participating in the study and the management of documents and data collected throughout the study period.
Responsibilities include:
Assists in preparing protocols and submissions to Ethics Review Board.
Maintains research accounts for studies within area of responsibility.
Coordinates study visits with patient, investigator and other services.
Sees patients per study requirements, working with the PI
Is responsible for the completion and monitoring of study documentation and data.
Pre-processes data and performs simple analyses as directed by the PI
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Completion of a relevant Bachelor’s degree (implementation science, epidemiology or health services research), or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
- Medical Terminology course preferred
- Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) designation considered an asset
- Relevant clinical, qualitative, patient engagement experience considered an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
- Statistical experience and the use of SPSS, R or SAS would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated research and analytical thinking skills
- Previous experience in a relevant field preferred
- Previous research experience strongly preferred
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Long assignment part-time; 37.5 hours bi-weekly
- Approximately 24 months
Compensation and Benefits
$28.12 - $35.15 hourly
