About the Opportunity

The Medical Laboratory Technical Specialist is accountable to the Manger, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine or designate, responsible for accurate and reliable work ethics, and contributes to the maintenance and promotion of good working relationships within the lab. The Medical Laboratory Technical Specialist will perform Laboratory procedures following appropriate methodology established by Lab program. The Medical Laboratory Technical Specialist will exhibit leadership and sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the framework of the objectives of the Service and Nova Scotia Health (NSH), Western Zone – South West as a whole.

 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Must be a graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology OR Graduate with a BSc in Medical Laboratory Science
  • Licensed with NSRMLS and currently registered with CSMLS
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a registered laboratory technologist required
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and public relations skills as well as the ability to work in harmony as a member of the Laboratory team
  • Be able to use initiative and work with minimal supervision and work as a team member
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal development
  • Must possess coping skills conducive to a busy Laboratory
  • Respect confidentially of all health care information
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent full time position; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$34.40- $41.76 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
