About the Opportunity
The Grief and Bereavement Coordinator (GBC) provides expertise in the development and delivery of a zone-based grief and bereavement program along a continuum to meet a broad range of grief needs that include:
- Capacity building of NSH workforce and volunteers through grief education and training
- Development of self-management tools and resources to support grief
- Providing supportive counselling to individual and/or facilitation of grief groups
- Collaborating with both internal and external service areas to develop navigation and referral pathways to match grief supports to level of need
- Building partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs)/agencies to support compassionate communities
The GBC demonstrates flexibility and innovation in program design based on zone population needs, strategic priorities, and available resources. The GBC ensures the zone-based program aligns with provincial grief competencies and standards established through the Provincial Palliative Care Network including trauma-informed and palliative care approaches to care as appropriate and integrates principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, and accessibility (EDIRA).
The GBC is accountable to zone assigned direct report for functional/local operational reporting with a matrix report to the Palliative Care Network, Grief Practice Lead for alignment with provincial standards, competencies and guidelines
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a health-related discipline (Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Registered Counselling Therapist)
- Registered or eligible to be registered with the professional licensing body
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in palliative care setting, mental health and/or primary health care is required
- Degree, certification, courses or workshops pertaining to grief care or thanatology an asset
- Knowledge of individual and group education/facilitation utilizing adult education principles
- Experience in partnership development, interest holder collaboration and community development an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of local health and community-based services
Hours
- Permanent, full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
Compensation and Benefits
$36.57 - $48.53 Hourly
