The Opportunity

The Aboriginal Children’s Hurt & Healing (ACHH) Initiative is a research program focused on improving the overall health experiences of Indigenous children and youth with a focus on pain and hurt. Through a recent Research Nova Scotia funded project, Etuaptmu’k Wloti, the ACHH Initiative will improve the health care experiences of Indigenous people by increasing cultural safety in education and health care settings across Nova Scotia. This is done through the development and offering of online courses, gathering and comparing health data and providing targeted community-led interventions to improve access to quality, culturally safe care. This work is completed through ongoing partnerships with Indigenous communities and involves several research projects and knowledge translation activities. 


The Project Lead (Cultural Safety Education) will be responsible for leading the expansion of a cultural safety course to both pre and post licensure settings across the province. The successful candidate will have experience with project implementation, adult education and cultural safety in healthcare. Strong communication skills and the ability to successfully liaise with organizations across the province is required. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 


Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Review and finalize cultural safety course content and rollout
  • Develop and maintain user databases ensuring tracking of course targets and outcomes
  • Work with a range of stakeholders to garner interest and buy-in for course implementation and mandates
  • Work with the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure appropriate data collection features are incorporated and tested within the online course modules.
  • Attend weekly team meetings
  • Contribute to the overall activities of the research team and department as required.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week (hybrid within the province)

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum Master’s degree from a recognized University (or equivalent) in a health, education or research-related field
  • Experience working with online course implementation and development
  • Experience with data management and analysis
  • Independent worker, able to work with minimal guidance while maintaining quality output.
  • Knowledge of Mi’kmaw and Indigenous Peoples history and ways of knowing will be considered an asset.
  • Prior health research experience will be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with SPSS, Excel and Learning Management Systems
  • Preference will be given to those who identify as Indigenous, have a strong connection with Indigenous communities and/or experience working in Indigenous communities.
