About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Director Health Services Western Zone, the Director, in collaboration with department heads and Site Medical Leads, is responsible for strategic and operational planning, management and leadership of programs/services assigned to the position to ensure care is integrated and reflects best practice evidenced based standards.
Working with the physician leaders, this position enables and supports the integrated approach to emergency care services across the zone, contributes to the development of operational plan; and oversees execution of operational plans that support excellence in care delivery, improvement in health outcomes, and achievement of standards of care established by the Department of Health and Wellness.
The Director of Health Services ensures continuous improvement to advance a vision of academic excellence within the provision of care and is responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of quality management and safety programs, and compliance with relevant standards and accreditation requirements. The Director facilitates and champions a learning and research environment that aligns with the current and proposed future state of Nova Scotia Health.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Master’s Degree in a health-related discipline, health administration, business administration or related subject. Combination of equivalent experience and education may be considered
- Registration with relevant health or professional discipline/college or association
- Certified Health Executive designation an asset
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant leadership/management experience with progressive accountabilities for financial, strategic and people management to deliver high quality services within a within a complex, integrated service model provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders
- Excellent leadership, relationship building, organizational and decision skills in support of patient, family and client centred services
- Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative working partnerships with stakeholders
- Expertise in financial planning
- Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues
- Understands the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to create and lead complex work teams
- Expertise in quality improvement methodologies; monitor quality and performance indicators
- Demonstrated advanced communications skills/positive energetic public persona and cultural competence
- Collaboration, negotiation, conflict resolution and persuasion skills are paramount as this role requires the engagement of internal and external stakeholders
- Expertise in leading complex change
- Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data

Hours
- Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
- Travel to various sites will be required (20% to attend meetings)
- Onsite work location at South Shore Regional Hospital
Compensation and Benefits
$58.09 - $77.19 Hourly
