About the Opportunity
Working in conjunction with the Clinical Pharmacy Manager, The Drug Utilization Pharmacist is responsible for quality improvement activities through drug utilization review and data analysis and quality improvement projects. The pharmacist conducts drug utilization evaluations, applies clinical knowledge of evidence-based drug therapy guidelines and safe medication use principles, incorporates feedback from health care experts, and makes recommendations to improve appropriate drug use. The pharmacist reviews drug utilization data and uses analytics to monitor trends to identify opportunities for quality improvement and evaluate the effect of interventions. The Drug Utilization Pharmacist plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates formulary and inventory management projects with leadership and staff with the goal of quality improvement, efficient use of resources, and improved patient outcomes. The pharmacist develops and/or consults on medication policies and related documents at the pharmacy department or organizational level. The pharmacist may provide education, conduct drug utilization research, and participate in other quality improvement work, as needed.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate of a recognized School of Pharmacy
- Eligible for the registration with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator (NSPR)
- Completion of a Hospital pharmacy residency program and/or equivalent related direct patient care experience (minimal 2 years) in a hospital setting preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Knowledge of medication patient safety therapeutics required
- Knowledge of medication patient safety concepts an asset
- Experience in evidence based clinical research an asset
- Strong teaching ability/experience required
- Experience in critical appraisal of scientific literature required
- Proven effective oral and written communication skills required
- Experience as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team required
- Ability to prioritize work responsibilities and to work well under time pressures required
- Demonstrated interest in professional development and lifelong learning required
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits
$49.42 - $61.74 Hourly
