About the Opportunity

The Mental Health and Addictions Program (MHAP) operates out of various hospitals, clinics, and community locations across the province. It is comprised of specialized teams of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, Recreation Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Secretaries, and other members of the allied health and support team.

The main focus of this role is providing training and clinical consultation in evidence-based interventions for mental health and addictive disorders to clinicians throughout the MHAP. Other trainings are provided staff working in community-based organizations throughout the province.

The role also includes serving as a clinical advisor, supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of program-wide models of care and clinical policies and procedures, participating in organizational planning, and representing clinical perspectives in domain planning.

The role includes one day per week (0.2 FTE) for clinical work. 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

•    PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology (PhD in Counselling Psychology may be considered)

•    Registered/eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology

•    Minimum of 4 years of formal training and clinical experience in evidence-based interventions for mental health and addictions, including at least 2 years of experience providing clinical consultation/supervision. Have received supervision/consultation regarding their own supervision and consultation skills.

•    Training and experience working with children and adolescents as well as adult is an asset.

•    Training and experience providing psychoeducation and psychotherapy groups

•    Training and experience in the provision of cognitive and behavioural interventions for a range of mental health and addictive disorders. Certification in cognitive-behavioural therapy is an asset.

•    Knowledge of adult learning principles 

•    Skills in leadership, advocacy, and team building

•    Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that emphasize anti-racist and intersectional values, analysis, and actions, clinical humility, and the responsible use of power and privilege

Hours

  • Long assignment, full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Assignment is approximately 12 months in length

Compensation and Benefits

$55.32 - $73.20 Hourly
