About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Care Delivery Communications, the Senior Communications Advisor supporting Medical Affairs and Physician Relations collaborates with leaders and teams throughout the organization to provide communications and engagement advice and support to advance relationships and system transformation initiatives with more than 3000 physicians and medical learners across the province.
Working closely with colleagues in Communications and Marketing, the position works to plan, implement, and evaluate communication and engagement infrastructure, initiatives, and activities that build and strengthen the organization’s response to issues, challenges and opportunities that bridge the gap between Nova Scotia Health and its physicians, medical learners, and system partners. The Medical Affairs department includes physician recruitment and retention, physician leadership development, medical education, and physician communications and engagement.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in the communications and public relations sector
- Knowledge of best practice related to communications, public relations, engagement, media relations, crisis communications and engagement
- System-focused thinking with strong analysis and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
- A track record for providing effective counsel and support to executive leaders
- Ability to support internal and external collaborative relationships; ability to work effectively within cross-departmental teams
- Experience with high-profile public relations issues and in reputation management
- Interest and ability to work within social media; ability to use current technology to communicate effectively
- Ability to manage multiple complex and high priority projects, delivering on budget and on time
- Demonstrated success in desktop publishing and basic layout design
- Assets include:
- Experience in the health sector, particularly roles that involve physician relations and engagement
- Knowledge of IAP2 principles and practices
- Knowledge of change theory and change management practices
- Exceptional skills in preparing web, social media, and online engagement strategies with demonstrated success in developing effective content and engaging audiences

Hours
- Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
- This position follows a hybrid work model & is flexible within the province
Compensation and Benefits
$40.95 - $51.19 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
