The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Manager, Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) within the Quality, Patient Safety and Patient Experience, the MDR Educator & Quality Lead, in collaboration with key partners, is responsible for the assessment, implementation, planning and evaluation and supportive application of existing and new MDR knowledge and the translation of knowledge to practice. The prime focus of the MDR Educator & Quality Lead is to build capacity and to develop and contribute to core and specialty competencies of the MDR staff. The MDR Educator & Quality Lead practices according to the Canadian Association of Medical Device Reprocessing practice standards and bylaws.
The MDR Educator & Quality Lead demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation,
monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership, and practice. The MDR Educator & Quality Lead exhibits the
knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework. This framework is grounded in theories of adult and concept-based learning, practice development, fundamentals of care and collaborative learning and practice.
Hours of Work
Monday - Friday 0700 - 1500 hrs
Your Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 and a Medical Device Reprocessing Certification from an accredited program required.
- Certified (or eligible for certification) as a Canadian Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CMDRT) required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in operating room instrumentation required.
- Experience in MDR with sound knowledge of the reprocessing equipment, decontamination, and sterilization process required.
- Experience as a preceptor/trainer required.
- Experience in designing, providing adult education an asset
- Demonstrates sound knowledge CSA Standards and AAMI standards.
- Proficiency using a computer and with Microsoft word, excel, and power point required.
- Demonstrated time management, communication (verbal and written), organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated leadership, delegation, critical thinking and problem-solving skills involving innovation/creativity in solution development.
- Proven team building, leadership, and evaluation skills.
- Competencies in other languages an asset.
