The Opportunity

The incumbent will assist with the implementation of a research project, “It's My Choice: A mixed methods implementation evaluation of a patient decision aid to support abortion care in Canada” as part of the CIHR National Women’s Health Research Initiative. The research assistant will report to the research coordinator and will also work closely with principal investigators on the project, Dr. Melissa Brooks and Dr. Justine Dol, as well as executive directors at The Everywoman’s Clinic and the Willow Reproductive Health Clinic in Vancouver. The research assistant will be employed through the IWK Health Centre where the research study is based but will be physically located in Vancouver, BC.  
The research assistant will work to collect data from patient charts; collect and enter participant data; and encourage staff in their recruitment efforts. Other tasks will be assigned based on need and to ensure full and accurate collection of data in line with the study protocol. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Encourage recruitment of participants at the two Vancouver site locations.
  • Collect and enter participant data into excel
  • Work alongside and take direction from clinic staff
  • Work with clinic staff to create implementation documents
  • Commute between Everywoman’s and Willow clinics as needed

Hours of Work

This is a hybrid role at Everywoman’s Health Centre and the Willow Reproductive Health Clinic as well as remote work. The applicant must be in Vancouver, BC. This is a 12-month position for 18.75 hours a week. Hours of work will typically be required during business hours (M-F 8am-4pm) but may vary depending on study requirements, with some weekends and evenings required. Specific dates/hours will be determined in consultation with the successful candidate. 

Your Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or master’s degree in a related field.
  • Fluency in English (second language of French, Punjabi or mandarin is an asset)
  • Must demonstrate experience in quantitative research methods particularly in a health-related area
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Flexibility around what hours are worked based on clinic workflow
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Complete the TCPS2 online course
