About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Rehab Services Manager, the Clinical Therapist (CT) provides a wide range of clinical services to the Obesity Clinic patients. Clinical services include screening, assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation. This role requires a high degree of independent practice, excellent assessment skills, the ability to formulate a clinical impression based on DSM V criteria, develop and implement a comprehensive, evidence-based plan of care which may include both individual and group psychotherapy, and provide an ongoing evaluation to monitor patient outcomes. Working with the interprofessional team there is also a requirement to meet with the clinical team and participate in care planning for the individual. Group education is also an anticipated role for the Clinical Therapist.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Occupational Therapy)
  • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
  • Minimum two years of direct clinical experience working with people with complex and chronic conditions
  • Advanced training certificate in bariatric care for Health care providers required (i.e. Obesity Canada Calibre Course, Certified Bariatric Educator, or equivalent)
  • Ability to conduct a comprehensive mental health assessment, including suicide risk assessment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the DSM V criteria with the ability to provide a clinical impression based on a DSM V criteria formulation
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to support behavior change and self-management (i.e. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Counselling).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a trauma-informed care approach and skills in working with trauma therapeutically
  • Well-developed intervention and treatment skills and approaches, both 1:1 and group
  • Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long assignment part-time position; 37.5 hours biweekly 
  • Approximately 12 months
  • Call and shift work required, evenings, nights, and weekends

Compensation and Benefits

$42.21 - 58.87 hourly
