The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Financial Accounting and Reporting, the Manager, Corporate Transactions & Treasury is responsible for the oversight of the corporate transactions and treasury department with total centre-wide expenditures and revenues exceeding $300 million, including operating, provincial programs, research, innovation, and restricted funds. This position is responsible for the management and oversight in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivables, billings, and banking / treasury functions. In addition, the manager ensures that effective internal controls and best practices are in place within the department. The Manager ensures exceptional service delivery is provided to its internal and external clients. As a leader that cares about building and supporting a dedicated and loyal team, the Manager will have a proven track record in delivering results, promoting engagement, collaboration and leading by example, while supporting diversity and a healthy workplace.

Hours of Work

Monday - Friday. 75 hours bi-weekly

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/commerce or equivalent required.
  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA) required. An equivalent combination of education, related experience and other relevant qualifications may be considered.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in financial administration required.
  • Minimum three (3) years leadership experience, preferably in a financial services environment required.
  • Experience in a healthcare / clinical setting is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting and computing (such as SAP and MEDITECH) system required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft computer applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including strong presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Relationship building skills.
  • Strong track record in project management, change management and execution.
  • Knowledge of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) framework or audit functions is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in putting into action operational plans, delivering persuasive presentations to different levels of the organization, managing service delivery performance, and experience in using lean methodologies to achieve continuous improvement goals.
  • Sound judgement, and sufficient diplomacy and tact to deal effectively with all customers and professional relationships.
  • Experience with working in a matrixed organization with demonstrated experience building constructive and effective relationships.
  • Ability to execute through effective delegation, motivation and oversight.
  • A leadership style that is driven, energetic and has a high degree of professional integrity.
  • A commitment to focusing on a culture that provides customer service above and beyond what is expected.
  • Forward thinking to ensure proper mechanisms are in place to support the evolution of the IWK financial services department.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends, needs and challenges and drive and implement innovative thinking and change within the organization.
