About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Rehabilitation & Supportive Care Program Manager and working under the direction of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants, the Wheelchair Service Technician is an essential part of the team in providing safe seating solutions to veterans and other long term care residents at the Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building. Mobility is not just about movement—it's about dignity, independence, and staying connected to life. For older adults, a wheelchair can be the bridge to community, purpose, and quality of life.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Organizing and carrying out regularized preventative maintenance and cleaning on all VMB wheelchairs and components
• Assembling new wheelchairs and assisting with equipment setups, repairs, and modifications as needed
• Installing positioning belts, chair alarms, and other components (e.g., backs, headrests) as needed
• Labelling, tracking and maintaining inventory of VMB and seating equipment
• Retrieving stock and supplies from receiving dock as needed
• Preparing and labelling equipment for shipment as appropriate
• Participating in department quality improvement initiatives as applicable

This role may require travel within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Grade XII or equivalent
• One year experience utilizing power and manual tools
• Ability to perform mechanical tasks associated with wheelchair assembly/disassembly
• Experience with wheelchair assembly/disassembly
• Working knowledge of computers
• Strong problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
• Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.

Hours

• Permanent Full Time; 75 Hours Bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$21.43 - $23.37 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)
