About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager (or designate), as well as in collaboration with the MDR Educator and other key stakeholders this role will be a contributing member of the MDR team. They will identify training and competency needs for the MDR staff; and plan and implement orientation and education based on those needs. They will support and maintain a competency-based orientation program for MDR staff. This role will be a key position in the organizing and managing of the quality assurance system in MDR.

The Staff Developer will be instrumental in building and maintaining strong working relationships with MDR staff, MDR educator, Periop clinical nurse educators, and various other groups. This role will provide support and development to the team across various sites within the zone.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12
  • Successful completion of an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program or equivalent (course with practicum preferred)
  • Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CMDRT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required
  • 3 years' experience working in Medical Device Reprocessing with sound knowledge of the decontamination and sterilization process, OR instrumentation and the needs of the clinics and nursing units required
  • Membership with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Nova Scotia preferred
  • Adult education certification and/or experience as a preceptor/trainer for new staff an asset
  • Research Skills
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of CSA, AAMI, and ORNAC standards
  • Thorough understanding and ability to interpret Manufacturer’s Instruction For Use (MIFU)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

 

A skills test will be included as part of the selection process

Hours

  • Permanent Full-Time Position; 75 hours biweekly 
  • Hours are subject to change
  • Travel to various sites is required

Compensation and Benefits

$26.97 - $28.97 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
