About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Scheduling Operations, the Scheduling Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a centralized staff scheduling team that delivers high quality schedule planning and building, timekeeping, and shift filling of immediate and long-term needs. Essential components of this position include a high degree of exercise in decision-making, creativity, interpersonal skills, professional development, communication, relationship-building, change management, and resource management, so as to provide effective leadership for continuous quality improvements in staff scheduling and employee & patient safety.

 

The manager requires the ability to implement, manage, and audit regular changes to processes that evolve out of upgrades for scheduling software or databases that host live schedules, as well as changes in the collective agreements that impact the rules to scheduling and timekeeping for all areas that they support.

 

The Scheduling Operations Manager is a creative and motivated self-starter, a confident and innovative problem-solver able to combine a knowledge of the current scheduling processes and collective agreement standards that are in place with the needs of the operational units/areas that their office supports. This role requires the ability to build key relationships with the managers of units/areas that they support, Human Resources Teams, Labour Relations, and the Integrated Scheduling Service. 

 

The Scheduling Operations Manager is the primary contact for their regular staff (clerks, schedulers, team leaders and assistant manager), as well as a secondary contact for the services they provide to Unit Managers, Payroll, Benefits.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a related field such as Business Administration or Education preferred, education and experience to be considered.
  • 5 years experience in staff scheduling / Human Resources with knowledge of collective agreements
  • 3 years of formal leadership
  • Knowledge of the environment, staffing practices, and time reporting processes preferred
  • Project Management and or Change Management an asset
  • Experience with scheduling and or HR software
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing, prioritizing and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including ability to work as a team member and ability to foster collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, synthesize information, problem solve and utilize good judgment in decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality; recognize sensitive issues and respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Knowledge of adult education and learning principles
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Edge, Outlook, and human resources information systems.
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time Position; 75 Hours Bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

  • $42.94 - $53.67 Hourly
