About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the Manager, the Respiratory Therapist applies their knowledge, skills and judgment in the provision of diagnostic, assessment and therapeutic modalities to assist in the management of cardiorespiratory and related disorders in collaboration with the physician and other health care professionals. The respiratory therapist also participates in education of patients, families and other health care providers. The respiratory therapist will be the primary individual for the Pulmonary Rehab program. This position is focused on pulmonary function testing but also is responsible for education sessions with patients & families regarding Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) & asthma referrals. The successful candidate will be expected to be competent in pulmonary function testing including spirometry, lung volumes and diffusion capacity testing and must have a working knowledge of current ATS standards.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy and currently licensed with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists required
- A minimum of two years' experience in Respiratory Therapy is required
- Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care Exams required
- Current certification in BCLS is required
- Proof of completion of an approved COPD Educators program (CRE) or equivalent; or willingness to complete after hiring
- Clinical experience in the relevant practice area preferred (i.e., Respiratory clinic, community-based care, chronic disease management, asthma/COPD education
- Experience conducting spirometry and/or pulmonary function testing preferred
- Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, videoconferencing)
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

- Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
Compensation and Benefits
$31.31 - $42.92 Hourly
