The Opportunity

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the CMHA Administrative Supervisor works as part of a team to oversee and facilitate the daily deliverance of quality and efficient customer service for all clients the operation of the Community Mental Health and Addictions portfolio. Acting as a coach and mentor, responsible to train and motivate administrative/clerical staff to build on their strengths in achieving service excellence, this includes monitoring daily work and procedures of staff to ensure compliance with all quality and safety standards. Promote teamwork, directly involving team members with problem resolution and client satisfaction issues. In addition, act as a liaison with other areas of the IWK Mental Health and Addictions Program and IWK Health, to ensure excellence and timely delivery of health information.

Hours of Work

7.5 hour shifts, Monday to Friday, 0830-1630, with some evening and weekend hours. Flexibility is required.

Your Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education (i.e. diploma or degree) and/or relevant experience with an emphasis on administrative/business/project management.
  • Formal education and/or training in Human Resource Management an asset.
  • Formal education and/or training in project management an asset.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of two (2) years previous experience in a healthcare environment required; preferably in child and adolescent mental health services.
  • Minimum of two (2) year previous experience in a unionized environment required.
  • Minimum one year supervisory/leadership experience in a health services and/or administrative environment; or equivalent experience combined with proven strong team building skills preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in a leadership role or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience administering Attendance & Performance Management Programs is an asset.
  • Experience scheduling and supervising employees in high volume clinical health service operation considered an asset.
  • Experience with data collection, clinical system integration and information requirements.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring processes, conducting data quality audits and investigating suspect data entry errors or omissions.  
  • Demonstrated independent decision making.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast pace, high stress environment with changing demands.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset.
