About the Opportunity
The Clinical Pharmacy Manager for the emerging and re-emerging infections consult team, is responsible and accountable for the planning and management of patient-centered pharmaceutical care services in support of a sustainable and agile program of COVID-19 therapeutic, prophylactic and vaccine consult services. The consult team partners physicians and pharmacists to build system capacity and offers person-focused care and evidence-based information to people and healthcare practitioners in diverse settings across Nova Scotia. As a member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team, the Clinical Manager ensures that pharmaceutical care services are aligned with strategic priorities and meet high standards of quality and patient safety.
The Clinical Pharmacy Manager, oversees the selection, training and evaluation of clinical pharmacy coordinators, pharmacists, pharmacy practice assistants, pharmacy students, clerical and support staff with respect to expected performance and competencies. The Clinical Manager supports the operational, fiscal and strategic objectives of the Pharmacy Department. Responsibilities also include ensuring that pharmacy programs and initiatives are consistent with the mission, vision, values, strategic directions and business plan of Nova Scotia Health.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate of a recognized School of Pharmacy, required
- Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists, required
- Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program and/or equivalent related patient care experience (minimum 2 years), preferred
- Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in hospital pharmacy, including at least two years experience in supervision and leadership in a unionized setting
- Must possess strong planning, evaluative and leadership skills; have demonstrated fiscal management skills; have a strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics, principles of pharmaceutical care and risk management
- Must have an excellent knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice, legal acts and regulations governing the profession of Pharmacy in the Province of Nova Scotia, and standards set forth by the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists, the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation and other applicable standards
- Excellent interpersonal communication and collaborative skills; ability to maintain effective working relationships within Pharmacy and with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Proficient with computers and office administration programs, specifically MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet Explorer
- Experience with departmental pharmacy software preferred
- Must be a self-starter, assertive team player and possess a high level of judgement and must have creativity and analytical ability for decision making and priority setting
- Must maintain effective working relationship with diverse professions and do advanced problem solving
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits
$48.17 - $64.00 Hourly
