About the Opportunity
The Pharmacy Practice Assistant works as a member of the inter-professional team and participates in the provision of safe, competent, patient and family centered ethical care, ensuring the goals and needs of the patient are prioritized and individualized. Working within their legislated scope of practice and scope of employment, the Pharmacy Practice Assistant assumes responsibility for their own actions, are accountable to the public and contribute as a healthcare professional to plan of care and function of pharmacy to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
The Pharmacy Practice Assistant functions are self-determined, assigned through management, the pharmacist, another Pharmacy Technician or as requested by other members of the care team.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Grade XII plus completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program (accredited program preferred) OR one-year full-time experience as a hospital pharmacy technician OR two years’ experience as a community pharmacy technician
- Licensure in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) is an asset
- Two years’ experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, an asset
- Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control and record keeping
- Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications
- Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Must have reliable transportation as travel may be required (on occasion)

- Permanent Full Time/100% FTE /75 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits
$24.48 to $27.73 Hourly
