About the Opportunity

The Manager of Nutrition and Food Services supports the work of the Director to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of Nutrition & Food Services (NFS). The Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, and controlling of all aspects of operations and day to day management of NFS within multiple sites of the Central Zone. The Manager will champion the integration of nutrition care and food service and is responsible for the provision of nutrition care services to patients, residents, and clients in both institutional, ambulatory and community settings. The Manager will collaborate on provincial initiatives and standards such as the implementation of the Provincial Healthy Eating Policy at the applicable sites and will continue to work as part of the provincial NFS leadership team to develop and implement new initiatives. The Manager will ensure all safety, quality, and clinical/nutrition care standards are maintained for positive patient, resident, and client nutritional outcomes. The Manager ensures patient safety is maintained through a meal ordering process for patients/ persons to decrease the risk of allergen contamination and potential anaphylaxis and food borne illness. Manager ensures compliancy with therapeutic nutrition requirements and restrictions to address patient medical needs.

The Manager applies in-depth scientific knowledge of food and human nutrition and is responsible for implementing nutrition care standards, monitoring of clinical dietetic performance, managing the nutritional component of Nutrition and Food Services, and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice. The Manager will ensure all safety, quality, and clinical/nutrition care standards are maintained for positive patient, resident, and client nutritional outcomes, and ensures compliancy with therapeutic nutrition requirements and restrictions to address patient medical needs.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics required
  • Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program required
  • Current licensure with Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists or eligible for license in Nova Scotia
  • Membership in a professional association, Dietitians of Canada preferred
  • Completion of Advanced Food Safety Training required
  • Five (5) years’ progressive management experience in health care as a dietitian in addition to having clinically related practice experience required
  • Experience in scope of practice for dietitians, dietetic technicians, and food service supervisors, and food service management (patient and retail)
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with all levels of staff and clients including those internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to interpret statistical data, and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships
  • Extensive experience in financial planning and human resource management
  • Experience in leading change
  • Experience managing in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, policies and standards
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills with ability to manage conflicting deadlines
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Must have reliable means of transportation for required travel

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-Time; 75 Hours Biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$40.15 - $53.35 Hourly
