About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President Operations, Central Zone and working in a co-leadership model with the Senior Medical Director, the Director is responsible for the province wide planning, development of an integrated provincial trauma system and improvement of trauma care delivery across the province to support the clinical, academic and research mandates of Nova Scotia Health (NSH).  The Director works in partnership with system stakeholders including Zone Leadership, the IWK Health Centre, Emergency Health Services (EHS), and the Department of Health and Wellness (DHW) in the development and execution of strategic and operational plans that support excellence in trauma care, improvement in health outcomes, and achievement of standards of care. 

The Director provides strategic leadership with a focus on policy and planning required to support quality trauma care for Nova Scotians.  This also includes the development of Goals and Objectives that align with NSH Mission, Vision, Values and strategic priorities, planning and development of policies, standards and key performance indicators, maintenance and monitoring of quality management and safety programs, and compliance with relevant standards and accreditation requirements.  The Director facilitates and champions a learning and research environment that aligns with the current and proposed future state of NSH. 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a health related discipline
  • Master's Degree in a health related discipline, health administration, business administration or related subject (equivalent experience and/or alternative education may be considered)
  • Eligible for registration with relevant health discipline/college or association
  • 7 -10 years of relevant clinical leadership experience with progressive accountabilities for strategy, planning and quality management within the program area
  • Excellent leadership, relationship building, organizational ad decision skills in support of patient, family and client centred services 
  • Experience working in a co-leadership model
  • Experience working in trauma care or trauma system considered an asset
  • Certified Health Executive designation would be considered an asset
  • Expert knowledge to critically analyze clinical evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues
  • Understands the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to create and lead complex work teams
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills that are responsive to audience needs
  • Collaboration, negotiation and persuasion skills are paramount as this role requires the engagement of internal and external stakeholders
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Some travel will be required

Compensation and Benefits

$53.9102 - 71.6306 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)

This position is currently eligible for a Market Adjustment of 2% until April 2025.
