About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Child & Adolescent Outpatient - Mental Health & Addictions, the Psychologist, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, is responsible for the delivery of time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to adults (19 years and younger) with Tier-3 mental disorders and substance use disorders. All services are provided within a Stepped Care framework and practice is guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways. Each Psychologist participates in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments. It is an expectation that the Psychologist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Successful completion of Masters in Psychology
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP)
  • Minimum of two years' clinical experience required working in the field of Mental Health & Addictions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of time-limited evidence based psychological assessments and treatments for Mental Disorders and Substance Use Disorders, and commitment to same
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Stepped Care principles and clinical care pathways, and commitment to same 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical supervision, learning and professional development, and commitment to same
  • Demonstrated knowledge in providing culturally informed, non-judgmental patient and family centre care, and commitment to same
  • Demonstrated accountability and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information, problem solve and utilize good judgment in decision making
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives and evidence based practice
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical supervision, learning and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to handle multiple projects concurrently and maintain personal health and to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent Full Time position; 75 Hours bi Weekly 
  • Travel to other sites may be required

Compensation and Benefits

$37.31 - $49.04 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)
