If you are passionate about contributing to a positive, person-first community we currently have an opening for a Functional Mobility Assistant.

Position Summary:

The Functional Mobility Assistant is responsible for supporting an individualized restorative and maintenance program according to each Elder’s mobility and quality of life goals.

Temporary Full-time contract (1 Year)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the direction of the PT and OT, the OTA/PTA carries out a restorative program which includes walking, exercising, range of motion, activities of daily living.
  • Works with Elders with utilizing sensory, reminiscence and other programs that enhance an Elder’s quality of life.
  • Educate and support Care Partners, Elders and family on transfers, equipment, and other areas within our scope of practice as needed.
  • Assist OTA/PTA update care plan sections, transfer logos and clearly communicate any changes to Care Partners.
  • Assist the Elders with meals as needed.
  • Ensuring safety equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, transfer belts, slings etc. are checked monthly and in good working condition.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment that pertain to transfers or offloading.

 

Qualifications:

  • OTA/PTA diploma or equivalent education
  • Have a keen interest in working with a senior population in long term care.
  • Able to work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and time management skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
    • Willing to learn and work independently when trained.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy; effective oral and written communication.
    • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, iPads, and any software or equipment aimed at enhancing the life of elders.
    • Understanding and commitment to Hillside Pines’ Mission, Vision, Values, and the Eden Alternative philosophy to provide quality care and service to Elders.

     

    HOURS OF WORK

    Schedule may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet the wellbeing goals and needs of Elders.
