About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Seniors, Western Zone, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. The Physiotherapist is a  member of the Seniors LINCS interdisciplinary team and provides service primarily in the community setting. The Physiotherapist works with the other members of the interdisciplinary team to provide assessment, care planning and intervention to seniors in the home or hospital setting. The Physiotherapist collaborates with other members of the care team as well as patients, family and caregivers to maximize the function and independence of patients. In addition, the PT may provide clinical support to Geriatricians and other physicians to support assessment and intervention in the ambulatory care setting. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and the assignment of and supervision of work of Rehabilitation Assistants. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required.  The PT is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of their licensing body, the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists Therapists.

 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or entry level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body)
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • Physiotherapy is a diverse profession requiring additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time, 100% FTE, 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Evening/weekend/holidays may be required

Compensation and Incentives

$33.97 - $42.89 hourly

 

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
