About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced administrative professionals to join our team. As an administrative professional at Nova Scotia Health, you will play a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of our healthcare facilities and contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to various departments within Nova Scotia Health, including but not limited to scheduling appointments, managing correspondence, and maintaining accurate records.
- Act as the primary point of contact for communication via telephone and in person to patients, public, unit staff and other Nova Scotia Health departments.
- Assist with the coordination of meetings, events, and special projects as assigned.
- Serve as a point of contact for inquiries from patients, staff, and external stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism and excellent communication skills.
- Utilize computer software and office equipment to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive work environment.

About You
You excel in a collaborative work environment, readily offering support to colleagues and taking a proactive approach. Proficient in Microsoft programs like Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, or similar office software, your adeptness with these tools is essential to your role. You thrive in autonomous work settings, adeptly managing tasks in fast-paced, challenging environments. You possess a keen eye for detail and excel in building and sustaining positive working relationships, fostering effective collaboration. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively round out your experience.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 plus one year of related clerical experience or graduate of a recognized one-year office administration/secretarial/business program or equivalent education (ex: University degree)
- Applications from current Office Administration/Medical Office Administration programs graduating within 6 months will be accepted
- Additional administrative experience may be required depending on the position
- Medical terminology course considered an asset and may be required depending on position
- Experience in an administrative role, preferably within a healthcare or similar setting considered a strong asset

Compensation & Hours of Work
- Hourly wages starting at $21.56 for entry-level positions, up to $31.15 hourly based on the candidate's background and experience
- Positions include permanent, temporary, and casual positions
- Shifts can include day, evening, night, and weekends
