Position: Clinical Dietitian

Type: Temporary Part-time (3 days per week – 60%)

Duration: 15 months, start after July 1, 2024

 

Position Summary

Within the interdisciplinary team of health practitioner, the incumbent will work towards

maximizing the abilities and well-being of residents living in a 90 bed Eden Alternative Registered home (long term care facility). The primary purpose of this position is to serve the Residents as a specialist in clinical and therapeutic nutrition by assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating nutrition care. The incumbent of the position is to work under the direction of the Mission Statement, Standards, Eden Principles, and Policies and Procedures of Tideview Terrace.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Nutrition Degree from an Accredited University. Completion of Dietetic Internship accredited by Dietitians of Canada.
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists and preferable member of Dietitians of Canada.
  • Certification in Advanced Food Safety training.
  • Be familiar with the Eden Alternative Philosophy in long term care. Certification as an Eden Associate and Neighborhood Guide preferred.
  • Experience in geriatric/long term care clinical nutrition preferred
  • Knowledge of the nutritional needs of the long-term care Resident.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills as well as a positive working attitude; ability to work independently as well as an integral member of client-focused teams.
  • Excellent time management and decision-making skills related to nutritional care of the Residents
  • The ability to manage numerous tasks in a long term care setting with minimum supervision.
  • The ability to analyze challenging situations, show initiative by actively seeking out opportunities to make a contribution and provide assistance with problem-solving and the development of action plans with Lead Hand Support Service
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills and ability to present ideas in a well-organized fashion.
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
