About the Opportunity
Respiratory Therapists have the responsibility for the initiation and management of mechanical ventilation (life support) and also act as an expert of advanced airway management in all areas of the institution. They deliver and manage the administration of oxygen and other compressed gasses, aerosolized medications and high humidity therapies. They also perform and interpret related pulmonary diagnostic testing. Respiratory Therapists act as part of the multidisciplinary health care team to help achieve physician goals for patients' cardiorespiratory status, and assess, plan, deliver and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care and airway management for patients.
There may be other Respiratory Therapy duties such as patient or staff education sessions.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy
- Must hold/maintain registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists
- Must hold/maintain certification in CPR at NRP and ACLS levels
- Travel to other sites may be required
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Effective planning, organizing and supervising abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be adaptable and flexible to adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent part-time position; 45 hours bi-weekly.
- Shifts include days, nights and weekends and on-call.
- Travel to other sites may be required.
Compensation and Incentives
$32.43 - $40.66 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
Successful candidates may be eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus and up to $5,000 in relocation support upon the signing of a defined return of service contract.
