Step 1
Complete a Dietician program

To help you get started, here are some of the programs in Atlantic Canada:

Mount St. Vincent - here

St. Francis Xavier University - here

Cape Breton University (partial) - here

Step 2
Complete supervised practice

After completing school, dieticians must complete an internship or accredited practicum of 35 to 40 weeks.

Step 3
Pass the Dietician Exam

Take the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination (CDRE). The successful completion of this exam is required to practice or be licensed as a dietician in all provinces and territories, except Quebec.

Step 4
Register as a Dietician in Nova Scotia

Register with the College of Dieticians and Nutritionists. For more information on requirements and fees, see here.
